In 2018, my wife and I started doing 5Ks because it was always on my bucket list- we completed 3 of them and I had planned on doing one per month during 2019; however, I changed that once I realized that it was actual hard to find local 5Ks that worked with charities that I wanted to help.
I started looking for another way and found Charity Miles- it’s an app that you put on your phone and turn on when you start walking (running/biking, etc) and they will donate $.25 per mile that you walk to a charity you select. This is a much easier way to push myself and to get money to the exact place I want it.
I proved to myself that I could do a 5K and don’t see a reason to do that month after month…so Charity Miles seems like a perfect fit.
I walk 3 times per weekday (breaks/lunch) and we’ll be doing some walks during the Spring-Fall at our local park as well.
I’ve decided to set a goal of 1,000 miles walked in 2019, which would raise $250 for St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital!
The app can track your miles by day/month/year so I’m going to be updating here once a month to keep track of where I am and how far I need to go.
