Prologue: 2018- Mass Evolution
I’ve tried to lose weight most of my life- I remember trying as far back as 5th grade and I’ve had some success, only to stumble and gain it all back. My high point was losing 117 lbs. in 2005 only to regain it all, plus some, and hit my highest weight of 440 lbs. in 2017.
So- why is 2018 going to be any different?
I’ve always considered myself a writer- I started writing poet and articles in middle school and was published in several newspapers through high school and after. I’ve won a few awards here and there and been published in a poetry anthology.
I have terrible grammar and don’t have a proofread but most of the time you can get the point of what I’m trying to say, so why worry about typos.
My entire weight loss journey, from this point on, is going to be based around one quote…by Brad Paisley, of all people.
“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.”
I decided to start writing my book on January 1st, 2018 and while tomorrow isn’t the first blank page, it is another one…waiting to be written…and it will be written, regardless of the actions I accomplished to complete it and regardless of anyone ever gets to read it. I’ve written 39 prior books and they are all collection dust in the Sharky Hitchens Library…but my latest book will be the first one available to the public.
2018: Mass Evolution
Mass – a coherent, typically large body of matter with no definite shape.
Evolution – a process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state
This book will have 12 Chapters, 365 pages and you will be able to read most of it as I write it. There will even be “Cliff Notes” at the end of each chapter if you don’t have the time or patients and just want to check in for less updates.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I’m going to enjoy writing it- even the ups and downs of the scale and the emotional roller coaster that is trying to change your life.
Love, Peace and Sharkyness
