Sharky X?

Posted by Administrator On February - 26 - 2009

malcolm_x
I want to write this amazing piece of writing about Malcolm X but I’m not the best writer out there so I will write straight from my head and if the grammar sucks, get over it.

Back in the 90’s, when I was a self proclaimed “wigger”, I had a Malcolm X shirt and wore it with my sagging pants; although I never really knew anything about Malcolm X or what he stood for. Later in life, as I went through high school and some college, I realized just what an idiot I was.

Malcolm X (Little) was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925; his father was African American and his mother was mixed. (her father was white). I discovered that Malcolm was a criminal with the nickname “Detroit Red” because he was light skinned and red headed (not the bright red, but a red tint); and he was extremely racist towards white people. Malcolm stated several times that he “hated every drop of that white rapist’s blood that is in me,” speaking about his grandfather.

SIDE NOTE: It’s funny to me that, as I write this, I realize that I used African American for one race but “white” for another race.

A fact that most people don’t know is that he also had mental issues; his mom was admitted to a mental hospital when he was a child and I truly believe the mental issues were inherited by him.

Malcolm X taught that black people were the original people of the world, and that white people were a race of devils who were created by an evil scientist named Yakub. The Nation of Islam believed that black people were superior to white people, and that the demise of the white race was imminent.

SIDE NOTE: Yes, you read that right. Malcolm X taught that white people were devils created by an evil black scientist named Yakub. Where is Agent 007 when you need him?

If that doesn’t scream mental issues; nothing does.

Imagine what would happen today if someone taught that black people were devils created by an evil white scientist named Earl! Where is Agent Tyrone when you need him?

Malcolm X was also a draft “dodger”, when Malcolm was examined in 1943 for the draft, military physicians classified him as “mentally disqualified for military service”. Malcolm wrote in his autobiography that he put on a display to avoid the draft by telling the examining officer that he could not wait to “steal us some guns, and kill us some crackers.”

After that, he returned to Boston with a group of associates, and began a series of elaborate burglaries targeting the residences of wealthy white families; this led to 10 years in prison where he learned about Islam.

In 1952, he was released from prison and changed his last name from Little to “X”; the X symbolized the true African family name that he felt he would never know.

In 1953, Malcolm X described himself as a Communist.

On December 1, 1963, when he was asked for a comment about the assassination of President Kennedy, Malcolm X said that it was a case of “chickens coming home to roost.” He added that “chickens coming home to roost never did make me sad; they’ve always made me glad.”
He was assassinated himself in 1965; there are several conspiracy theories over the assassination; some believe the Nation of Islam was responsible while some believe it was the FBI.

The amount of racism that Malcolm X expressed back then leads me to wonder why he was such a “hero” for people who wanted equality. Malcolm X once stated – “history proves the white man is a devil…anybody who rapes, and plunders, and enslaves, and steals, and drops hell bombs on people…anybody who does these things is nothing but a devil.”

I personally have never raped, plundered, enslaved, stole or dropped a hell bomb on anyone (maybe a few F bombs though!) but I do know some black folks who have raped and stolen; does that make them devils now?

Malcolm X advocated the complete separation of African Americans from white people. The Nation of Islam proposed the establishment of a separate country for black people in the Southern United States as an interim measure until African Americans could return to Africa.
The funny think is that the Klu Klux Klan had the same belief of sending African Americans back to Africa, yet they were looked at as raciest?

I wanted to write something about race because I’m tired of there being a double standard, I’m tired of black people being able to downgrade and bad mouth white people yet when white people do the same exact thing, we are called racist and society shuns us.
I’m tired of the NAACP without a white counterpart, I’m tired of the Lexington (Kentucky) African American Ball, I’m tired of the African American College Fund. If I started a White Folks College Fund and refused to allow black folks to apply for it; how long do you think that would last?

Racism is not a one sided issue; it goes both ways and any racism should be looked at in a negative manner.

The great thing about writing this little essay (for no real reason) was a fact that I learned about Malcolm X that I wasn’t taught in school.
In the last months of his life, Malcolm X began to reconsider his support of black nationalism after meeting northern African revolutionaries who, to all appearances, were white. Malcolm X articulated a view of white people and racism that represented a deep change from the philosophy he articulated as a minister of the Nation of Islam. In a famous letter from Mecca, he wrote that the white people he had met during his pilgrimage had forced him to “rearrange” his thinking about race and “toss aside some of his previous conclusions.”

In a 1965 conversation with Gordon Parks, two days before his assassination, Malcolm said:

“Listening to leaders like Nasser, Ben Bella, and Nkrumah awakened me to the dangers of racism. I realized racism isn’t just a black and white problem. It’s brought bloodbaths to about every nation on Earth at one time or another.

Brother, remember the time that white college girl came into the restaurant- the one who wanted to help the [Black] Muslims and the whites get together- and I told her there wasn’t a ghost of a chance and she went away crying? Well, I’ve lived to regret that incident. In many parts of the African continent, I saw white students helping black people. Something like this kills a lot of argument. I did many things as a [Black] Muslim that I’m sorry for now. I was a zombie then- like all [Black] Muslims- I was hypnotized, pointed in a certain direction and told to march. Well, I guess a man’s entitled to make a fool of himself if he’s ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years.
That was a bad scene, brother. The sickness and madness of those days- I’m glad to be for of them.”

Maybe I wasn’t such an idiot after all for wearing my Malcolm X shirt. In his last days, Malcolm X was truly an inspiration and hero to every person fighting for equality among races; so why do you rarely hear about those last days?

Everything and everyone seems to focus on the “by any means necessary” and “white devils” instead of what Malcolm truly stood for at the time of his assassination.

Racial equality.

More Anderson News Crap…

Posted by Administrator On February - 24 - 2009

I hate to write so much about The Anderson News but it seems the more that I actually look at their website, the more retarded stuff I find.

The Anderson News is the “official” newspaper of Anderson County, located in Central Kentucky. I’m sure that it’s safe to say that a large majority of the folks in Anderson County are Kentucky Wildcat fans. The Anderson News decided to create a poll to see how far the citizens of Anderson County believe our beloved Kentucky Wildcats will go this year in the NCAA College Basketball Tournament.

Here is an EXACT copy and paste from www.theandersonnews.com this morning –

Poll Title: How deep will Kentucky go in this year’s NCAA basketball tournament?

Out in first two rounds
43.4% (43 Votes)

Won’t make the field 34.3% (34 Votes)

Out in Sweet 16 12.1% (12 Votes)

Out in Elite 8 6% (6 Votes)

Out in Final Four 3% (3 Votes)

Out in finals 1% (1 Votes)

Total Votes: 99

Do you notice anything….missing perhaps???

Maybe I’m an idiot but where is the choice of “Win the Tournament”?

Maybe The Anderson News doesn’t like UK Basketball but I know a ton of people that do and it seems that we don’t really have a choice in this “so called poll”.

Once they realize this error (one of many) they will probably go back and change it but as of now, The Anderson News doesn’t even offer a glimpse of hope to UK fans…

Thanks Anderson News…we can always count on you!!

I think a successful poll should offer choices to everyone, not just U of L fans.

SharkysWorld.com is about the people; NEVER forget that!!!

One of our loyal readers, Jesse Jackson, sent us this picture a few days ago trying to express his confusion with SharkysWorld.com.

Jesse has been a fan for a long time and he was starting to get frustrated with the layout of SharkysWorld.com.

He sent us an email stating that he just wanted to be able to come to SharkysWorld.com and read what is going on or just read the latest offerings from the folks at SharkysWorld.com.

Well, Jesse, we heard you…and we changed the layout!!!

This new layout is very simple and stress free!! Links to everything we deal with is in the left navigation bar and the last TEN articles/blogs/postings in the center/right column.

I don’t believe we could make it much easier to use SharkysWorld.com.

We would like to give a huge thanks to Jesse for his email voicing his concerns and we ask that all of our readers/fans do the same.

Enjoy the new layout!

The Fun Continues

Posted by Administrator On February - 18 - 2009

newspaperIt seems that Mr. Carlson (The Anderson News – Anderson County’s “Feel Good Paper”) just had to write up something about our correspondence we had the other day over Anderson Emergency Service and Lawerenceburg Medical Supply.

And you know, Ol’ Sharky will have to continue to respond; it’s not that I have to have the last word, it’s the fact that I’m right in this situation and as long something is said/written, I will need to respond.

You can read Mr. Carlson’s “letter to himself” at www.theandersonnews.com (It’s not the greatest site but they try). I will only be responding to certain sections and I don’t want anyone to think I’m taking what was said out of context.

Mr. Carlson starts off with his amazement that The Anderson News has gone from one letter to the editor a week to several in every edition.

I would be willing to bet that the one letter he used to get was from yours truly. I have always written to papers, including the Danville Advocate Messenger, The London Sentinel Echo and The Anderson News

There is a huge difference though, when I wrote/write to the Danville Advocate and Sentinel Echo…they publish it. I’ve never been one to write the “great job crap” that you see in the Anderson News today. I figure, if you are doing a great job, then your name won’t be in the paper.

I sent the SAME letter to both the Advocate Messenger and the Anderson News. A lady from the Advocate called my cell phone and actually talked to me about the situation; almost as if she cared!! It was truly amazing. She told me that it was too wordy and if I could get it down to around 350 words, they would be happy to publish it. The Anderson News just sort of ignored it until my second email.
Since the letter was mainly about Lawrenceburg, I decided to not rewrite it for the Danville paper because I have had enough letters to the editor in that paper complaining about Danville’s so called “services”.

Colleen – Grudges

Posted by Administrator On February - 17 - 2009

colleenEvery person at some time or another feels hurt or mistreated by a family member, friend or co-worker over both large and small disagreements, unfeeling comments, or unfair treatment.

We become angered, and retain that anger as a grudge. As a result, those negative feelings continue to stir whenever the offender is present, or even thought about.

People start to hold grudges because they believe that by simply completely removing themselves from a problem that they are experiencing by never talking to the person that caused the pain again will be a sufficient solution to their problem.

They believe that they will feel less pain by avoiding the individual completely.

Confronting the person who triggered the grudge is something that would help, yet is usually too difficult for most of us. People hold grudges usually because they do not feel confident enough to confront the offender, nor have the communication and resolution skills that would be helpful.

One reason that holding grudges is a bad idea is that cutting off all communication with an individual causes them to be unable to seek forgiveness from you.

There is no chance that the conflict that you are having with the individual will be resolved when you do your best to avoid them.
Oftentimes, misunderstandings of a lack of foresight are the reasons that people get into arguments, and by cutting off communication with the other person, you may very well be making the problem worse.

Letting go of a grudge requires confronting the person who wronged you, which can result in a clearer understanding of the situation for all involved. Quite often, the grudge is based on inaccurate information and conclusions.

Most often, people don’t really mean to do something hurtful.
Another problem with holding a grudge is that when you hold a grudge against someone, you cast all the blame for your anger on that individual and are often too proud to admit that you may be at fault in one way or another yourself.

You won’t be able to grow or correct similar problems in the future if you simply cut yourself off from the person.

The long-running bitterness that accompanies even shallow grudges drains a great deal of emotional energy, and can leave a person feeling irritable, anxious, and distrustful.

Grudges are also linked to stronger negative emotions and can contribute to physical stress such as high blood pressure, and emotional stress, including unhappiness, loss of hope and loss of control.

Admitting to yourself that you were hurt is also part of the healing process.

When you are holding a grudge, the hate that you are experiencing simmers inside of you and can suck the joy out of your life. It’s quite hard to be happy when all that is on your mind is the wrong that someone has done to you, and the baggage that a grudge creates can hold you down for years.

Forgiveness is an essential part of letting go of a grudge. But forgiveness does not mean that you agree or give-in to the person who caused the hurt. Instead you look at the situation in a different way, and attempt to understand the other person’s intentions. Forgiveness may not even mean that the relationship is healed. But it does mean that you let go of the negative emotions, and move on.
For all of these reasons, it’s easy to tell why you shouldn’t hold a grudge. If you are experiencing a sense of unbearable hate towards an individual, think about exactly what caused the problem and if there are any ways that you can remedy them.

Do your best to focus on the aspects of your life that are good as opposed to the problems that you have. Also, realize that people are all fallible and we all make mistakes. Life is too short to be hung up on hate for the whole time that you are here, and being unforgiving may make you feel invulnerable, but it will most definitely cost you happiness in the long run.

Now, at the beginning of another new year is a good time to examine those long-standing grudges and make an effort to let go and forgive.
