I remember learning about Columbus Day back in school; but as I grew up and started doing research on things myself, instead of just believing what I was always told, I found a different story.
Even as a kid, I had an issue with believing bullshit- someone “discovered” a land that already had people living there?
This story should end here and people shouldn’t really know that much about Christopher Columbus and our nation should NOT celebrate anything to do with him- not even folks that sell mattresses.
This nation was stolen through lying and violence and it has risen to power the same way and that hasn’t changed nor will it ever change.
“In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue…”. Kids are taught that Columbus was a great man who discovered America.
TRIVIA – Do you know what Christopher Columbus called the Native Americans “Indians”? (answer below)
We actually celebrate this day thanks to the Knights of Columbus who created it in the 1930’s so their kids would have a Catholic hero as a role-model. In 1934, as a result of lobbying, Congress and President Roosevelt made this day a federal holiday. There were no Catholic hero’s for kids to look up to so they successfully changed history to create one….well, at least they tried. There are still some of us out there that are tired of simply believing what we are told; some of us still research to find the truth.
There were several others that “discovered” the land we call America long before Columbus…people such as Leif Ericson; there is DNA evidence that Polynesian adventures sailed dugout canoes across the Pacific and settled in South America even before Ericson and the Vikings.
Columbus’s diary speaks of friendly, peaceful people on the Bahama Islands, where he first landed on October 12th, 1492. It says they were “handsome, smart and kind people”, which on the day the Santa Maria shipwrecked, these people labored for hours to save the crew and cargo.
These people had no weapons; no criminals, prisons or prisoners. He even states that their hospitality was remarkable.
Columbus repaid them by seizing their land for Spain and enslaving them to work in his brutal goldmines and within 2 years, half of the 125,000 native population of the island were dead. Not only that, he also supervised the selling of native girls into sexual slavery to his men.
His exact words – “a hundred castellanoes are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten are now in demand.”
TRIVIA ANSWER – He called the Natives “Indians” because he had no clue where he actually was; he thought he was in the Indies.
On his second trip to the “New World” he brought cannons and attack dogs; which made it even easier to enslave the natives; and if they fought, he would cut off a nose or an ear and if they tried to escape, he had them burned alive.
If the Spaniards ran short of meat to feed the dogs; they would use the Native babies as dog food.
I could go on and on about the terror brought to the “New World” and what helped to build our nation but, like I’ve said a million times, there is no reason for you to believe me.
Simply go to Google.com and type in “Columbus, sex slave and gold mine”.
Do the research yourself; I’ve written enough to get you started and should be enough for you to wonder why Catholics would want their kids looking up to this “hero.”
American Reality isn’t what you’ve always been taught…you were taught bullshit. American Reality is what they tried to hide from you.
