Introducing a series I call “Cards That Made Me.”
There are trading cards that have helped mold me to who I am today and I don’t think I realized that until recently.
When I started thinking about why I put so much effort into Commons4Kids- it always goes back to the way certain cards made me feel- from the first pack of cards I ever got in 1987 to giving cards away in elementary school to try to make friends and keep from being bullied.
The more I started looking up cards from my childhood, mostly from 1987 to 1990, I really remembered just how important they were to me- how life changing they really were.
There are 10 cards/sets that I want to write about- cards I really feel like helped mold the adult I became.
Looking at them now, I don’t think there is a single one that I couldn’t buy for a few bucks- which shows me this hobby isn’t about the money- it’s about the memories and a love for what it truly is- it’s about having a little piece of cardboard that can take you back to certain parts of your life.
I’ve already written about the most important card in my life- it’s basically the reason C4K exist today- the 1989 Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck Star Rookie- so I’ll probably just copy/paste what I’ve already written for that card.
This will be a great little mini-series for me to go back to when I want to just think about how amazing life is.
Love, Peace and Sharkyness
