I’m a Digital Drug Dealer

I had seen the game Weedcraft Inc. several times but when I read the reviews- they were usually bad due to the game having several bugs; so I never tried it.

THEN…Caseoh started playing a little game called Schedule 1 and I fell in love!

The game looked extremely fun and I am pro-legalization so I brought it and started playing- I’ve got well over 100 hours into the game and I still love it. Yes, the game is still in beta and the developer says it will take about 2-3 years for the game to be complete so it can get boring at times but the game loop is still amazing as a great time killer and a “filler” as you watch TV or YouTube.

I’m a multitasker and I need to be doing more than one thing at a time.

Then I realized that Schedule 1 is largely a copy of Drug Simulator so I downloaded that and, while it’s a cool game, the play loop is not as fun. I also prefer the cartoon style of Schedule 1 and it just runs smoother.

Then I started doing more gaming on my cell phone and found another weed game called Hempire- which I also love!

Then, today, I started noticing that PS5 had a TON of “just announced” weed and drug games and many of them seem like more clones but there are a few that look promising.

Palia

Palia is everything I was looking for in a game- I just hadn’t realized it.

Palia is a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) life simulation game- imagine World of Warcraft with no violence.

It could also be about as “cozy” as a game can get.

One of the best parts of it- there is no dying; there are no enemies to fight and no combat.

It has all of your normal cozy life simulator aspects- farming, fishing, gathering, wood chopping, mining, house building, decorating and even plushie collecting.

On top of all of that- Palia is 100% free to just jump into and play- the only microtransactions are skins for your character, your glider, your tools, etc. but they are ONLY cosmetic and not required to enjoy the game.

You can have multiple home “plots” to build and make your own but then there is currently two massive maps when you can play together (or still solo)- Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay but a 3rd expansion map is coming in the middle of May called Elderwood. The middle of May is also when Palia hits Xbox and Playstation- and remains free to play! (Currently available for PC and Switch.)

The game will also be cross progression which means you can play on Steam and then jump over to Xbox and pick right up where you left off.

Palia feels amazing playing with keyboard and mouse or controller- the actions feel natural and rewarding.

You can even collect bugs by hitting them with “smoke bombs”- it’s very much like catching  a Pokemon with a poke ball.

The maps are full of other plays and NPCs- which a few you can even romance.

As if that wasn’t enough, Palia also has a story to play through which currently takes about 90 hours for just the main story and that is BEFORE the upcoming expansion.

It will probably take you much longer because you get so sidetracked with farming and collecting things…decorating or just fishing with friends.

Palia has events where you can come together as a community and play mini games and win prizes through festivals like the Maji Market festival- still 100% free.

I highly suggest looking up Palia videos on YouTube because it can seem very overwhelming until you get into the hang of things- also research “etiquette” in Palia as well.

The community is a great part of Palia and I have yet to run into any “toxic” players so it’s nice to know some player etiquette before jumping in because Palia really is set up for everyone.

Great example – the Flow Tree grove!

Once per in game day, a grove of Flow Tree (rare wood) pops up and when a player finds it, they call out the location in the chat and everyone comes running. They hang out and collect bugs for about 3 in games hours (3 actual mins) and then all take turns taking one chop on each tree- so that when the trees finally come down- all plays get the same amount of wood.

The first time I experienced this was incredible- everyone was actually working together and having a great time.

The Facebook groups have also been extremely welcoming to me, as a new player, and have been very helpful with all that there is to learn.

This game is like all of the other farming/cozy games like Animal Crossing, the My Time At series, the Story of Seasons series but it is a continuing game…there is technically an “end” to the story but you can play it forever- just living out your best digital live as a Palian.

I would HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who enjoys those types of games- it’s a the top of the genre and has quickly become one of my go to/favorite games.

Schedule 1

Schedule 1????? A “cozy” game???

Yep! I’m here to tell you that Schedule 1 should be considered a “cozy” game- period.

Here are some of the criteria that we can all admit makes a game cozy-

-Low-stress and low-stakes gameplay
-Little to no threat of danger or violence
-Comforting music and graphics
-Calm, validating gameplay without negative consequences
-Well-suited for short gameplay sessions

Schedule 1 meets ALL of those and has a game play loop that will mesmerize you and cause you to lose hours- if you let it.

Let’s break it down.

The game is low-stress and low-stakes. Let’s be honest, the cops of Hyland Point are more like Barney Fife (old man reference) than elite special agents. You can literally walk up behind them in the middle of curfew and nothing. They can watch you run a red light. Nothing. They can have a road block set up and you simply run around them with pockets full of drugs and NOTHING.

The cops aren’t a real threat and that is the only threat the game currently has so that meets the no danger criteria.

Music and graphics- come on- the graphics are awesome! They give off a Ricky and Morty vibe and the music soundtrack is banger after banger to just chill to.

You have a lot to do when the game starts but once you get it all unlocked – then it just becomes an inventory manager simulator. I’ve currently got my entire operation running like clock work and all I really do is order/load the inventory for my “Shark Dust” recipe (YKIYK) and the workers do the rest. I can just hop on my golden skateboard and cruise the streets- hitting up my dealers and laundering some money while I watch the citizens of Hyland Point tweak out.

The game play sessions can be quick or you can spend all day because, as long as folks are paid, they just keep spitting out drugs. You can hop on for a few quick deals or you can spend hours just making the rounds- collecting money and keeping everything stocked up.

On top of ALL of that – since my operation runs on it’s own- I can load up on trash bins and just cruise the streets and pick up trash. The gold skateboard and the trash bins- along with the chill music- makes for a cozy afternoon. I can have a nice drink and Caseoh on the TV and it doesn’t get more cozy than that- at least for me.

The coziness of the game COULD be removed as Tyler (TVGS) adds elements to the game like FBI raids and giving the cops a little more training- but for now- there is NOTHING more cozy than being a drug lord.

Sharky: Cozy Gamer

I’ve played video games almost my entire life…well, 40 out of the 47 years that I’ve been here.

I’ve never been the “normal” gamer guy- I don’t care much for Skyrim and I’m currently playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve really tried to focus on doing things that make me happy, and it seems playing video games is a major part of that.

I’m playing more now than ever and I’m in a great place.

I’ve also decided to expand the types of games I play because games like Fortnite and Call of Duty just wasn’t bringing the happiness any longer.

I still play those games here and there, but I finally discovered he “cozy” area of gaming and I’ve falling in love with it!

Animal Crossing New Horizon’s really got me through the amazing year that was 2020- it was the perfect chill game that I needed to get me through the chaos.

Cozy games have been around since the 90s with games like Harvest Moon but the genre seems to be blowing up the last few years.

I’ve been researching some of the best “cozy” games to get into and I’ve realized that there is a lack of guys that look like me- big, old, gray beard, etc.

I’ve never been one of those guys worried about what others thing- I mean- I just started playing HKIA- remember?

I finally got a decent gaming laptop, finally got into what all the fuss was over Steam and I’m really enjoying it all!

I plan to dive into gaming much more because it’s also helping me with my weight loss journey to give me something else to obsess over- besides food.

I know that the gaming community is one of the most toxic places out there and I’m fine with that…I mean, one of my all-time favorite games is Dragon Age: The Veilguard and I know that just pissed most of you off.

I wanted SharkysWorld to focus on gaming and weight loss and it’s time to get into the gaming stuff. As for the weight loss, I’ve been using actions lately- I’m down 33 lbs. in a little less than 2 months so I may jump back into writing about that more as well; I was just tired of talking about it and not actually doing it.

40 Years of Gaming

2025 is going to be my 40th anniversary of playing video games! My first system was an Atari (1985) but I didn’t really get into video games until the Nintendo Entertainment System came out (1986). I’ve been playing video games for 40 years but my best memories came from the NES.

This picture represents a massive part of my childhood and even today.

I really want to focus 2025 on happiness which means writing more and playing more video games and finally getting this section going!
